ROOT CROPS
Forage root crops produce a substantial amount of fresh fodder for livestock when grazing may be reduced due to summer droughts or cold winter months. They are cheap to grow and cost effective.
STUBBLE TURNIPS
A fast growing crop, often grown after first cut silage for Summer grazing after Winter cereals for Autumn grazing. There are two types of stubble turnips-
1.Leafy type, providing good anchorage and Winter hardiness, 2.Bulbing type producing predominately large palatable bulbs. Sowing period- 1 April-June 2 July-early September Direct drill = 2kg/acre, Broadcast = 3kg/ acre
BARKANT
A proven variety with the highest dry matter yield, winter hardy, highly digestible
VOLLENDA
A highly digestible variety noted for its rapid growth, yield and bolting resistance. Large leafed, preferred by cattle and sheep retains its palatability all season.
TYFON
Fast growing cross between Chinese Cabbage and Stubble Turnip producing an abundance of leaves. High frost resistance, high yielding with a 8-10 weeks harvest cycle.
FORAGE RAPE
Has the advantage of being a very fast growing forage crop, suitable for grazing by sheep and cattle. An ideal catch crop for boosting mid Summer forage production when planted in the Spring. Sowing period- May - end September.
Direct drill =2.5kg /acre, Broadcast = 4kg /acre
KALE
Kale is a brassica crop traditionally grown for grazing by cattle in the Autumn and Winter. It can also be cut and fed to stock 'in house’ or as an alternative can be ensiled as big bale kaleage. It is very adaptable and can grow on most sites throughout the UK.
Sowing period - April-July. Direct drill 1-2kg /acre, Broadcast 3kg / acre
KEEPER
High leaf to stem ratio and high dry matter content.
THOUSAND HEAD
Slender stemmed bearing leafy forage with excellent hardiness providing forage for feeding after Christmas.
PINFOLD
High yielding variety with low leaf to stem ratio, highly palatable when grazed or cut and can be used as an Autumn or Winter Kale.

To combine the benefits of Stubble Turnips and Forage Rape, we have formulated two catch crop mixtures.
RAPID ROOT
35% Stubble Turnips, 60% Forage Rape,5%Kale,
Sowing Mid April- Mid September. 2.5kg /acre Grazing from July to December. Ideal for fattening stock.
WINTER GRAZE
35% Forage Rape, 60% Barkant Stubble Turnip, 5% Kale.
Sowing mid July - Mid September. 2.5 kg / acre Ideal for sowing after a cereal crop. Grazing from October through the winter.
